This module delves into Dr. Montessori’s groundbreaking mathematics materials, which continue to earn admiration from mathematicians even today. These materials—including number rods, sandpaper numbers, spindle boxes, number cards, and counters—offer children hands-on learning opportunities to master fundamental concepts such as counting, quantity recognition, and numeral association up to ten.

This module also explores exercises focused on the Decimal System, which are typically conducted using golden bead materials and corresponding number cards. These activities provide children with concrete experiences in addition, multiplication, subtraction, and division.

Furthermore, the manual covers exercises in Linear and Skip Counting, guiding children through counting up to one hundred and eventually one thousand. These activities promote a deeper comprehension of numerical concepts, laying a solid foundation for mathematical proficiency.

        I enjoyed understanding how to effectively use the golden bead materials, the Teens and Tens boards, rods, sandpaper numbers and small and large printed numbers to teach counting and number sense. This module really helps lay out the order in which to teach students beginning math!
